The Project Liberty Ship has been tasked with maintaining the S.S. John W. Brown ship. Currently the Project Liberty Ship is closed. However, we urge you to check back the next time you visit Baltimore to visit this historic ship. It is one of the few remaining ships that was used to transport troops during World War II. Liberty Ships were famous during the second war because they could be built rather quickly and inexpensively. This suited the needs of the Navy as they patrolled our sea’s and transported troops safely across the ocean. While the S.S. John W. Brown has been retired to civilian life, you can purchase tickets to take a small cruise around the bay. Don’t forget to bring your sea legs!
